The Axion Esti is a magnificent poetic work by Odysseas Elytis, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis. Almost six decades after its first public performance (October 19, 1964 at Rex Theatre - Marika Kotopouli Stage), the Hellenic National Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) Contemporary Music Orchestra will celebrate this anniversary with a historical live event. The Axion Esti is a landmark work of contemporary Greek culture, written as an "oratorio populaire" for a folk singer, cantor, narrator, mixed choir, popular orchestra, and symphonic orchestra.
