Pedram Khavarzamini from Iran, Sakir Ozan Uygan from Turkey, Aleix Tobias Sabater from Spain and Mahamadou Kone from Mali are leading and internationally renowned percussionists, representatives of important musical traditions in which these instruments play the leading role; a unique rhythmic collaboration within the musical world of the Labyrinth.
Impressive improvisations and new rhythmic explorations are presented by musicians distinguished not only for their technical excellence but also for their refined aesthetics, in a production that highlights diverse techniques, timbres, and approaches, as well as common elements that stem from the ongoing global musical and cultural dialogue of peoples.
The performance includes solo parts by the musicians as well as "rhythmic dialogues" between them. Flamenco dancer Karen Lugo will participate in the solo section of Spanish musician Aleix Tobias Sabater, in a collaboration that pays tribute to the earliest forms of human artistic expression: song, dance, and percussion. These three elements transcend eras and cultures, in a continuous adaptation and transformation process that allows them to remain a powerful means of communication.
