2 SOLI
10-13 January 2026 | 20:30
@ ΦΙΑΤ
Two solo performances, two distinct artistic languages and approaches to the body, are presented on the same evening, forming a night dedicated to the tension between gaze, silence, and gendered experience.

Cage of Lilies is a performance that functions as an allegory for the “imperceptible” weight of the gaze and the mechanisms that accompany it. Around the performer’s body, a web of relationships is woven, as thought rushes ahead to interpret and define what the gaze encounters. The gendered dimension of this seemingly “natural” function is placed at the centre, while the audience is invited to actively participate through three basic instructions: to look, to hold, to (co-)feel. The gaze appears simultaneously as an act of restraint and limitation, as a means of power, and as a revelation of the vulnerability of both the one who looks and the one who is being looked at. The relationship between audience and performer balances on a fragile equilibrium, materially and symbolically inscribed through the threads that run through the stage action. The work raises questions about the extent to which the gaze remains bound by social conventions and about the position of the body within this condition.

The Silence in Between is an autobiographical solo that focuses on an inner journey of fear, resistance, and reconnection with the body. A woman is confronted with an unknown challenge; her instinct warns her that something is changing. An inner fear swells, agitation becomes relentless, and confrontation with her thoughts is inevitable. Yet, aware of her own strength, she manages to overcome the danger. What follows is the need for reconciliation with the body that lived through this experience. The choreography unfolds along a spiral trajectory that constantly returns to the centre, structured in three distinct stages. Between the transitions from one stage to the next, an absolute silence intervenes, functioning as a space of pause, processing, and inner reorganisation.
Choreography: Penny Diamantopoulou
Performance: Marianna Papakonstantinou
Duration: 20'
The two works, although autonomous, coexist on the same evening as different propositions on the body: the body as both object and subject of the gaze, and the body as a carrier of memory, fear, and silence.
