For the 2025 edition of the Syros International Music Festival, we invite you to a series of five chamber music concerts in the magnificent setting of the Apollon Theater in Ermoupolis. Five concerts exploring different cultures and eras, from Bach to Aperghis.
Among the highlights of the festival is the concert "Ancient Greece, Dreamed Greece," conceived as a musical dialogue between France and Greece. Join us for this edition, which celebrates the diversity and richness of the chamber music repertoire in all its forms-two pianos, piano and violin duets, quartets, melodies-performed by internationally renowned artists. Each concert will offer a unique experience and will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists, making music a true collective celebration.
October 21st - 20:30 - "Grand Opening"

This is followed by two great Romantic works, Brahms' Variations on a Theme of Haydn, and Rachmaninov's first Suite, which he composed at the age of just 20. The work ends with a flight of bells evoking Easter. With Adam Laloum, we will be the architects of this opening evening.

October 24th - 20:30 - "Ancient Greece, Greece of dreams"
This concert is a dialogue. Firstly, a dialogue between France and Greece, between French composers from the first half of the 20th century who dreamed of Greece and drew inspiration from it-Debussy, Emmanuel, Gaubert-and, secondly, two major figures in contemporary Greek creation-Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001) and Georges Aperghis (born in 1945)-who draw their inspiration from the great founding Greek myths. This dialogue will also take on a theatrical dimension. The musicians will be invited to listen to each other before playing together, as an allegory of Athenian democracy, a central and decisive political concept invented by the Greeks, never fully achieved and always fragile.
