Festival at the Park 2026 welcomes the Lycabettus Ensemble to the Paros Park Museum on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 20:00, for a unique concert, entitled "Pirates' Journey, Knights' Song", inviting audiences on a captivating musical voyage through medieval Europe and the rich traditions of the Mediterranean.
From the castles of southern France and the pirate routes of the Mediterranean to the monasteries of Portugal, the streets of Andalusia, the synagogues of Thessaloniki and the ports of the Aegean, music becomes the thread that connects people, places and centuries. Songs in Occitan, Galician, French, Sephardic, Latin and Greek recreate the vibrant musical landscape of Europe between the 11th and 15th centuries.
The programme brings together secular medieval music, compositions from the great ars nova tradition, troubadour songs and melodies from the oral traditions of the Mediterranean, celebrating themes of love, fate, loss, beauty, nature and festivity. Accompanied by medieval vielles, tambouras and percussion, the concert revives a rarely heard sound world, offering audiences an immersive journey through history and music.
Founded in Athens in 2021 by Irini Bilini-Moraiti and Athanasia Teliou, the Lycabettus Ensemble is dedicated to the performance of medieval and Renaissance European music, while also exploring the oral musical traditions of the wider Mediterranean region through historically informed yet vividly contemporary interpretations.
The concert takes place in the unique natural setting of the Paros Environmental & Cultural Park, on the protected peninsula of Ai-Yiannis Detis. Here, where nature meets culture, Festival at the Park continues to build bridges between eras, peoples and musical traditions, offering audiences unforgettable experiences beneath the star-filled sky of the Aegean.
