PRESENTATION

 Meleagris Art Festival

Alissa Margulis & Lily Maiskyo
"ROMANTIC ECHOES"

Monday, May 18, 2026 | 20:00

The Meleagris Art Festival presents a distinguished chamber music recital featuring two acclaimed artists of the international music scene: violinist Alissa Margulis and pianist Lily Maisky. With a strong presence in major European concert halls and collaborations with leading musicians, the two performers come together in a program dedicated to the lyricism and poetic spirit of German Romanticism.

The evening opens with the Three Romances for Violin and Piano, Op. 22 by Clara Schumann, a deeply lyrical and intimate work that reveals the refinement of her musical language and her distinctive expressive voice. This is followed by Fantasiestücke, Op. 73 by Robert Schumann, a set of poetic musical miniatures in which violin and piano engage in an imaginative and expressive dialogue.

At the heart of the program lies Johannes Brahms’ Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in A major, Op. 100, one of the most radiant and lyrical works in the chamber music repertoire. Characterized by warm melodic writing and remarkable inner balance, the sonata highlights the profound and equal partnership between the two instruments.

The recital concludes with two movements from the celebrated F.A.E. Sonata (Frei aber einsam – “Free but lonely”), a unique collaborative work composed in 1853 in honor of the great violinist Joseph Joachim. The Intermezzo by Robert Schumann and the brilliant Scherzo by Johannes Brahms bring the program to a close, combining virtuosity, passion, and the youthful creative energy of the Romantic era.

Through their deep musical connection and expressive artistry, Alissa Margulis and Lily Maisky offer the audience of the Meleagris Art Festival an evening of refined musical expression, celebrating the beauty, sensitivity, and creative spirit of the 19th century.

Meleagris Farm will be open an hour before the beginning of the concert, in order to welcome those who wish to visit the premises earlier.

After the concert, MELEAGRIS CLASSIC production company will be offering snacks and wine made by the local winery EVINOS which are included in the ticket price.
