A performance full of music and prose that aims at shedding light on the atmosphere that permeates the music and poetry of the era in which painter Pablo Picasso lived, in search for the links between the artists he inspired or was influenced by, his favourite music, the poems he read, the artists he met and who dedicated some of their works to him. One of them was Odysseas Elytis, who met with the great painter in the late 1940s in the small seaside town of Vallauris in southern France.
Through a dialogue between music and prose, we will listen to the thoughts and poems written by Pablo Picasso and other poets who were inspired by the painter, such as Odysseas Elytis, Raffaele Carrieri, Paul Eluard, Guillaume Apollinaire. The event features works for voice and piano or solo piano, which follow the path of Picasso towards inspiration, a path related to his favourite music and his influence on musicians of his era such as Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albeniz, Arthur Lourie, Jake Heggie, Enrique Granados, Federico García Lorca, Leo Delibes, Erik Satie, Jules Massenet, Francis Poulenc, Igor Stravinsky.
Diamanti Kritsotaki | vocals - recitation
