Zero-emission mobility for all
The theme of this year's European Mobility Week expresses the ambitious goal of establishing a carbon neutral Europe by 2050, as announced by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von de Leyen. With that in mind, our Mobility Actions for this year's European Mobility Week pertain to all modes of transportation: cycling, walking, and public transport. Our motto this year is: "Move responsibly!".
Discussion on the topic "Cycling Friendly Business"
Just like in the past two years, the events being held at the SNFCC include an open discussion on the subject of the latest trends in bicycle use across Europe. More specifically, this year's topic is "Cycling Friendly Business". On a European level, businesses - both small and large - can play a significant role in the development of sustainable transportation. This year especially, with the pandemic demanding safety in transportation, cycling can play a critical role where distances allow. By supporting their employees in cycling to and from the workplace, through motives and additional benefits, businesses can incorporate sustainable transportation into the core of their priorities. But even when travel distances are not favorable, the mild exercise offered by cycling improves the mental and physical health of employees, boosts immunity and enhances their wellbeing.
The discussion will be held in collaboration with the Corporate Responsibility Committee of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, and pertains to seeking a more sensible and sustainable way of life through the use of bicycles to commute to and from work, as well as to encouraging employees to integrate cycling into their lives, in order to promote a more sustainable, more pleasant urban environment. The discussion will include a presentation of relevant European market trends, the viewpoint of businesses themselves, issues of employment law, and suggestions on how any business, regardless of its size, can become more cycle friendly.
The event is not exclusive to members of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, but is open to any organization or business with an interest in sustainable development.
This event is also part of the Sustainable Talks series of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce Corporate Responsibility Committee.
