After a long time, renowned composer Nicola Piovani returns to Heraklion. The Oscar-winning composer for "La vita e bella" presents a mythological concert inspired by Ulysses' journeys. Evidently, through instrumental music one cannot recount events that only words can describe. But music could attempt to materialize the emotion those events are still capable of stirring today.
The mythological concert «Ulysses' Travels» aims to recreate on stage the allure of Ulysses' adventures that have always fascinated the composer; and which he hopes to share with the audience. The music arrangement comprises piano, double bass, saxophone, cello, percussion, and keyboards; as well as recorded voices embedded into the score reciting verses by poets like James Joyce, Constantine Cavafy, Homer, Umberto Saba, and Torquato Tasso.
