Apokopos by Bergadis is considered the most important text of early Cretan literature and was the first vernacular Greek literary work to be printed in Venice, in 1509. It is regarded as the most poetic text of 16th-century Cretan literature and stands out for its enigmatic allure and expressive power enhanced by a contemporary poetic sensibility that enters the realm of philosophical thought.

Natalia Kotsani and Tassos Kofodimos, two of the most active and acclaimed performers and creators of the modern Greek music scene, join forces by setting and performing Apokopos in an original production. Through their compositions, voices and musical instruments, they present a pioneering setting that is indissolubly linked to the roots of Greek musical tradition imbued with elements from traditional idioms of the Mediterranean. Their contemporary interpretative approach highlights the poetic language that playfully disrupts established perceptions while evoking literary, religious, and folk conventions, only to undermine them.

They are joined on stage by three distinguished musicians: Vassilis Rakopoulos (guitar), Vangelis Zografos (double bass), and Angelos Polychronou (percussion). Through experimentation and improvisation, they highlight the fusion of Greek and Western elements in Apokopos, a work that has earned its place as one of the gems of European literature. Ross Daly, a pioneering figure in contemporary modal music, also takes part in the performance.
