Members of the Atenea Armonia - Friends of Music Orchestra, directed by award-winning conductor George Petrou, present a wonderful program of Italian Baroque music, culminating in G.B. Pergolesi's celebrated Stabat Mater, on Holy Monday. Pergolesi - who composed this piece only a few weeks before his death, at age 26 - humanizes the religious experience through the grieving Mary, as she watches her son suffering on the cross.

Internationally recognized as one of the most important period-instrument Greek music ensembles, this most active orchestra is a leading ambassador for Greek culture.

The centerpiece of the concert, the Stabat Mater is complemented by four enchanting concerti by Antonio Vivaldi; their interpretations by the orchestra and soloists have been enthusiastically received in Europe's foremost music venues.
