Cosmos | Ute Lemper: The Best Of
Ute Lemper, one of the iconic figures of cabaret and musical theater, comes to the Stavros Niarchos Hall on Monday, December 14, as part of the Cosmos series of concerts.
Boasting a career spanning more than four decades, the German singer has starred in some of the most iconic musical theater productions in the world, including the musicals Cats, Chicago and Cabaret, and has shaped a unique artistic style that moves between cabaret, chanson, Broadway, and contemporary music.
In the show entitled The Best of Ute Lemper, the great performer is inviting the audience to join her in a personal journey through the songs, stories, and encounters that marked her artistic path. From Kurt Weill and Broadway to the great French chansons and her tribute to Marlene Dietrich, the evening is unfolding across different places, languages, and eras. At the same time, she is also presenting her own compositions, based on texts by Pablo Neruda and Paulo Coelho, framed by visual projections and personal narratives that illuminate the stories behind the songs.
With more than 30 albums under her belt, Ute Lemper has inspired leading creators, such as Elvis Costello, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Philip Glass, and Scott Walker, to compose works specially for her. She has been honored with significant international awards, including the Laurence Olivier and Molière, as well as with the “Billboard Crossover Artist of the Year” title, affirming her position as one of the most significant performers of our time.
