STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION CULTURAL CENTER - STAVROS NIARCHOS HALL

PRESENTATION

A musical performance inspired by Mozart's Magic Flute

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) presents in the Stavros Niarchos Hall the musical performance Papageno's Holidays, a collaboration of the ERT National Symphony Orchestra with the librettist Sofianna Theofanous under the musical direction of Michalis Oikonomou, directed by Vasilis Mavrogeorgiou.

After being trapped for centuries in the Egyptian heat and dust, Papageno and Papagena decide to rebel! This year, they will celebrate Christmas for the first time, dress up in their new coats, put on their thick socks and black boots, take their camera and go to Austria, the Alps and Rovaniemi to enjoy the cold. They will send us postcards to tell us if the escape to the snow was everything they dreamed of! Did they get to ski, try Gluwein, meet Santa Claus or did the cold get to them? We will find out on Christmas day!

The Magic Flute, a work full of symbolism, continues to this day to move young and old, as Mozart's melodic music reaches a wide audience, while at the same time being a study for connoisseurs of the genre.
