Cosmos | El Sistema Greece: HOLLY JOLLY 80s
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is welcoming the cross-cultural symphonic orchestra and choir of El Sistema Greece at the Stavros Niarchos Hall, on Monday, December 21, for a concert dedicated to some of the most beloved pop songs of the '80s.
From Take On Me by A-ha and I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston to Sade's Smooth Operator, timeless hits that have left their mark on contemporary musical culture are taking on a new dimension through arrangements for symphonic orchestra and choir. The young musicians of El Sistema Greece are revisiting this iconic repertoire, highlighting new aspects of it and transposing it to the present day.
A few days before Christmas, the HOLLY JOLLY 80s event is inviting us to recall familiar festive tunes that bring us together, regardless of the time in which we grew up. Songs that have accompanied some of our most beloved festive moments and continue to travel from decade to decade, always finding a place in our lives.
