Christmas Stories at the Lighthouse: The Fourth Wise Man
As part of the much-loved Christmas event featuring children's theatre, this year, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is hosting the show "The Fourth Wise Man," directed by Sofia Paschou.
Inspired by the legend of the fourth Wise Man, whose journey to Bethlehem takes considerably longer as he is helping people in need along the way, the show turns a timeless story into an original new work that highlights the value of giving, solidarity, and human contact. With a sense of humor, sentimentality, and a poetic disposition, the play invites viewers of all ages to a story that sheds light on the power of kindness and caring for fellow humans.
The show is a production of the creative core of the Patari Project, one of the best-known physical theatre companies in Greece. Using the body, the voice and collective creation as their basic expressive means, the performers compose on stage images, characters, and entire worlds, activating the audience's imagination through a special theatrical language that characterizes this group's work.
Their show combines physical theater, musicality, and multiple levels of narration, while the music is based on well-known Christmas songs and melodies in new covers, involving both polyphonic editing and live on-stage performance, and forms an organic part of the dramaturgy.
