OUT OF SPRING stems from the forgotten ballet of Vaslav Nijisky and Igor Stravisky which signifies the beginning of modernism and has since become a powerful generator of new choreographic versions. Working through the concepts of reconstruction, copying and the an-archive, it is a threefold attempt to re-approach the original work, its representations and its descriptions. Unfolding the archival material and the meta-information inherent to the work's mythology the three performers question what is being sacrificed today on an individual and a collective level. Using ready-made materials and a flipbook of imagery from subsequent versions of the work, they intend to approach a realm described as a "scandal" or ​​a "new kind of wildness" and revive those untamed, queer qualities of the original work. How do you re-approach a non recorded work? How does performing wildness reveal itself on stage through the cracks of fragmentation?

arisandmartha is the creative collaboration between dancers, performers and makers Aris Papadopoulos and Martha Pasakopoulou. Based in Athens they work in the crossroads of dance, performance and site-specific exploring togetherness, friendship and otherness on stage, while experimenting on movement and performative tools under different conceptual ideas. Flexible and open to the double identity of performer - maker their work explores the ever-occurring question of discovering new creative grounds with each performative encounter. Together they have created the works touching.just (Aerowaves 2018 selection), 5 Steps to Save the World (Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2018), Lucy. tutorial for a ritual (Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2019, 25th Kalamata International Dance Festival 2019) and ALL THAT MATTER or notes on performing friendship (2022). They have been supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports (2018-23), FLUXUM Foundation - Geneva, KLAP Maison pour la danse - Marseille and Duncan Dance Research Center - Athens.
