Concert programme
Part A
Programme with George Kontrafouris
Adam will present a program consisting largely of his originals as performed by Origami and his quartet – contemporary jazz with an emphasis on lyricism and musical story-telling. Adam’s interest is in creating compositions or structures that create environments for exploration – for him, the beauty in jazz and improvising comes in the dialogue between the musicians as they create the music together. This first time meeting with George Kontrafouris will be sure to be an exciting one!
Part B
Programme with George Kontrafouris and the Intrarti Chamber Orchestra
This will be the world premiere performance of “Travelling Tales,” a new suite composed by Adam Simmons especially for the Piraeus Festival. The suite is influenced by a mix of Adam’s road trips around Australia, European travels, his love of Japanese shakuhachi music, his belief in the usefulness of art and the gentle minimalism of Nick Tsiavos’ music – the experiences, sounds and concepts coming together to create musical landscapes and images, both panoramic and up close.
