“Foreigner”: Invisible Olga, Austras or Couch Grass
by Giannis Tsiros and Lena Kitsopoulou
EPI (PLAGIAS) SKINIS (KENTRIKI SKINI)
INVISIBLE OLGA
A young immigrant woman becomes the victim of
human trafficking and is trapped with no hope of escape from a system
with no moral code. Based on a true story and personal accounts, Giannis
Tsiros’s work has the power and immediacy of a documentary.
AUSTRAS or COUCH GRASS
A
group of young friends invite a tourist in Greece to visit them at
home, creating tension and bringing about unexpected consequences. Armed
with a sharp wit and a bold ideological position, the writer makes a
trenchant comment on the distortions and pathologies that afflict Greek
society as a result of immigration.
Following its great
success last year, “Foreigner” returns for a second season at the GNT,
this time on the side of the Main Stage. The plays, commissioned by the
GNT from two acclaimed Greek writers, explore various facets of the word
“Foreigner” in today’s society, going beyond stereotype and prejudice.
Brought to the stage by two young and talented directors and performed
by a strong cast of four, this production was one of last season's most
interesting theatrical surprises.
