The Master and Margarita
by Mikhail Bulgakov
EXPERIMENTAL STAGE (-1)
This iconic work by the great Russian writer is a bold satire
against the bureaucrats of Stalinist Moscow, a dreamlike journey from
the grey buildings of the KGB to the plains of Judea and the hill of
Calvary, and a passionate romance between Margarita and the outcast
Master. It moves deftly between reality and imagination, the New
Testament and socialist realism, a complex work, which with the devil on
stage, is a magical whirligig of politics, theology and love.
