This years production of GNOs Children Opera is an original opera-ballet based on the music of Bizets Carmen. Carmencitas is about the joy and finite of life, the need to invest in values that bring people closer: friendship, love, solidarity. The story takes place one Sunday morning in a park, where a group of children, a scouts battalion and a few elderly visitors meet and share the joy of living.

It is a work of simple messages, that wishes to communicate with its young audience through the experiential art of dance. It is addressed to children of pre-school age as well as elementary school students. Even though the performance is primarily based on dance, songs and spoken word will be used to render the plot accessible to those less accustomed to the dancing vocabulary.

With the Childrens Theatre Orchestra, Principal Dancers, Soloists, Demi-Soloists and Corps de ballet of the GNO. Children's Choir of the National Opera participates only in the weekend performances.

Ticket prices: 8, 12, 15, 20 – Limited visibility: 5, 8, 10
