10th AEGINA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Artistic director: Dora Bakopoulos
Saturday 1st to Sunday 23rd August 2015
16 exceptional concerts
Aegina International Music Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary, having rooted for good and having become an integral part of Aegina’s summer. This year, Aegina International Music Festival reaffirms its presence, despite the difficult times, with its unchanged mark of cultural donation and high quality that have characterized it since 2006, when it made its first steps, as a result of the overwhelming and enthusiastic initiative of a small group of Dora Bakopoulos’ friends. Ten years since, over 70 music events have been organized, with the participation of more than 350 performers. The initial group of friends has multiplied and remains the festival’s basic driving force, having founded the Association of Friends of Aegina International Music Festival.
10th Aegina International Music Festival raises curtain on Saturday August 1st, 2015, at 21.00 pm, on the emblematic Avra beach keeping the tradition that started 10 years ago, with performances that will present the most beautiful works of chamber music, opera and operetta and special tributes Greek contemporary composers such as Manos Hadjidakis, Michalis Gregoriou, Nikos Kypourgos, Christos Papageorgiou, Dimitris Lagios, Manolis Kalomiris, Yannis Konstantinidis et al.
The celebration of this anniversary honor with their presence renowned performers from Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, who have always been supportive of Aegina Music Festival, as well as new friends and exceptional artists from Sweden, Romania, Russia and Canada, who will be added to the great music company of Aegina.
A musical feast awaits Aegina’s visitors and residents, in a Festival which expands from Avra Beach to Sotira’s Church and Jason Molfessis Small Theatre at Pacheia Rachi.

Full programme
How far is Athens from Buenos Aires? Only a breath away, if we count the distance by music… only four dancing steps if we follow the Tango rhythms, between two blue horizons that embrace the seas and oceans which unite the Mediterranean Sea and the south Atlantic ocean. Voice and soul filled with the Aegean Blue Sea and the nostalgia for faraway journeys, Mario Frangoulis will perform at Avra beach of Aegina, under the full moon treating his audience with the unique sentiment and passion of tango and sharing with his friend an evening of overpowering feelings as only music can offer.
