Παρόλο που έχει χάσει τη δουλειά του πρόσφατα, ο Μισέλ ζει ευτυχισμένος με την γυναίκα του Μαρί-Κλερ, με την οποία είναι ερωτευμένοι για πάνω από τριάντα χρόνια. Τα παιδιά και τα εγγόνια τους τούς δίνουν χαρά, όπως και οι καλοί φίλοι τους. Όμως, αυτή η ευτυχία θα διαταραχθεί από δύο οπλισμένους νεαρούς που θα τους επιτεθούν βίαια και θα τους ληστέψουν. Το σοκ γίνεται μεγαλύτερο όταν ανακαλύπτουν ότι την επίθεση έχει οργανώσει ο Κριστόφ, ένας πρώην συνάδελφος του Μισέλ, που απολύθηκε την ίδια μέρα με εκείνον.
