Εθνότητες που συνυπήρξαν για αιώνες, άλλοτε ειρηνικά κι άλλοτε μέσα από σκληρές αντιπαραθέσεις, συνθέτουν το ανθρώπινο μωσαϊκό μιας πόλη περίκλειστης όσο και ανοιχτής
Κατακτητές και πρόσφυγες, γηγενείς και επισκέπτες...
Μια σημερινή ματιά στους ήχους της Θεσσαλονίκης μέχρι τις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα. Τραγούδια των Οθωμανών, των Σεφαραδιτών, των Αρμενίων και των προσφύγων από την Ανατολική Ρωμυλία και τη Μικρά Ασία συνυπάρχουν με την τοπική ελληνική παράδοση, τους σκοπούς των βαλκανικών εθνοτήτων και τις κοσμοπολίτικες απηχήσεις της ευρωπαϊκής Μπελ Επόκ.
Τραγούδια που άλλοτε μιλούν για υπαρκτά μέρη και γεγονότα που σημάδεψαν την ιστορία της κι άλλοτε περιγράφουν μια πόλη μέσα από τους μύθους της.
