“Anaparastasis: Life & Work of Jani Christou (1926-1970)”
Screening of a documentary directed by Costis Zouliatis

The Chios Music Festival participates in the anniversary events held on the occasion of the 50 years from the death of the pioneer composer, screening the documentary by Costis Zouliatis titled: “Anaparastasis: Life & Work of Jani Christou (1926-1970)”. Through rare audiovisual documents and interviews with almost the entire artistic and friendly circle of the composer, the director tries to outline the personality and special spirit of this great thinker of art, while asking questions about the great moments - milestones that are often overshadowed by historical circumstances. It is worth noting that Jani Christou had a special relationship with the island of Chios, since Kontari was his permanent residence after Egypt, as his wife, Sia Choremi, was the daughter of the island's great benefactor, George I. Choremis. Now, the late couple, who lost their lives in a car accident in January 1970, are resting in the soil of Chios. In honour of the composer, in fact, his name was given to the main street next to the airport of Chios, where his former house is located.

Discussion with the director will follow.
