After wanderings and shipwrecks, Pericles, Prince of Tyre, marries Thaisa in the kingdom of Pentapolis. They have a daughter, Marina, but Thaisa dies during the birth. The girl is raised far from her father and is sold to a brothel in Mytilene. Her innate innocence protects her from the attentions of male visitors until father and daughter are reunited...
