Atrium of the Athens University
History Museum

On Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 June 2024 at 21:00 at the Atrium of the Athens University History Museum (Tholou 5, Plaka), the troubadours Spyros & Makis Karaviotis will present two unique concerts entitled:

"Uphills in Plaka"

The brothers Spyros & Makis Karaviotis, originally from Kefalonia, the birthplace of Greek bel canto, invite you, under the light of the Acropolis, to a romantic musical journey that includes first the action of the cantada in the narrow streets of Plaka and then a concert dedicated to Athenian urban song.

In particular, at 20:15 at the junction of Mnisikleous 22 & Lysiou streets, those of the concert listeners who wish to participate in the musical walk will gather. The singers will lead the audience singing to the venue where the concert will take place. Then the audience will be taken to their seats for the concert to begin and the melodious singers with their guitars accompanied by their chosen partners will present an excellent program of favorite Heptanisian & Athenian cantadas, but also some of the most beautiful waltzes, tangos and habaneras of the great singers Gounaris, Polymeris & Marouda who wrote history.

Against the backdrop of the picturesque landscape of Plaka and the light of the Acropolis, emblematic songs will be performed such as: In Plaka tis Anifories, Athens & Again Athens, Tonight my guitar, Play Plakiotiki Guitar, Acropolis - Plaka, Drink sweet wine, The birds are chirping for us , Chirp my pretty birds bringing to life the romance of yesterday, but given in a modern way through today's interpretations of the excellent troubadour brothers Karaviotis, who fully respect the style and ethos of the era of the songs they perform.

Performances start time 21:00

The duration of each performance will be one and a half hours with a 15 minute intermission.
