At Madame Pari’s brothel, sex is nothing more than a transaction.
But each of the girls who offers her services there also has her own
private world. Harsh or utopian, essential or cynical, this world is the
only thing that is true in their everyday lives. They need to survive,
even when it costs them. And for most of them, the cost proves painful.
Only those who can shut off and carry on without feelings and
commitments will remain intact.
One of the greatest successes of
the 60s, written for the theatre, adapted into a film and then rewritten
as a musical, now appears again at the Rex Theatre. The play explores
the human truth behind the mask of prostitution and Konstantinos Rigos’s
production, utilising an exceptional cast and crew, highlights the
timelessness of the issue.
